Location recording

I have assembled an amount of extremely portable equipment, large enough to record a full symphony orchestra out of a single medium-sized wheeled case. I also have access to a wealth of equipment at a short amount of notice for the larger or more specialized job! I record at 16bit linear PCM 44.1kHz, from a pair of small analogue mixing desks and a dedicated mic-preamp. I have a selection of microphones suited to making acoustic recordings. I use a mixture of omni and directional microphones to suit the occasion, including a pair of rare AKG C451EB with omni-directional capsules.

Editing

Live performance, though always varied, is rarely perfect. I will always record rehearsal if possible, or if multiple performances are given, I can usually edit out mistakes, noises and mishaps, providing that the material with the problem exists in a better state from the rehearsal. I edit on the PC based systems Sony Sound Forge and CD Architect.

Post-production

I review all material once it is edited, and evaluate if reverb, equalisation or volume adjustments are required. I use various software plugins for post production, including Lexicon and Sony software.

Mastering

After editing I master CDs to red-book standard, with PQ coding, ready to be sent to any CD manufacturer.

Photography

I can also take high resolution digital photos of rehearsals and performances, which can be used as presentation for the final CD, as well as for your own publicity material.

Cover Design

When your CD sounds to you like perfection, it’s time to dress it up. On-body printing, inlay cards, and “u-cards” can all be produced in-house. Alternatively I use a number of CD duplication companies for larger quantities - information available on request.
